I just read about the Pst-Graduate work-permit program and i will be coming for a 1 year Post Graduate Marketing Diploma course.

I guess in that case I will only get 1 year work permit,am I correct?

-----

Well this is for Indians,

Well most of you guys have 10th + 2years + 4 years right? Before coming for the post - graduate course?

But in my case,I've done BSC IT
Its
10+2+3

Hence I need to compensate for the 1 year with this Marketing Course before I can take masters or MBA or anything of that sort..

And the problem is, I really don't want 2 more degrees...I just want one,any one either Masters (I guess not possible under 10+2+3 but maybe I'm wrong?)
or the one I'm talking about....a Post-Graduate 1 year diploma.

But in that case I will only get 1 year of PGWP right?
And according to new rules, they require immigrants to stay in Canada for at least 4 years full before we can become Permanent residents,am I correct?

Well,in that case,am I really out of luck ,or is there a workaround for this?
I'm really coming to Canada to become a Permanent resident - thats the point of all this, really!

Help folks,thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Incorrect.

"Under current law, a permanent resident must live in Canada for three out of four years to be eligible for citizenship. The proposed changes will boost that to four out of six years, and eliminate the credit for time spent in Canada on a temporary visa."

still incorrect?

If yes please correct me :(

wow I'm not allowed to post links but google "New canadian immigration laws"

I've quoted the above from a bong post ,and there are hundreds on the new rules.

1. Do you know the difference between a PR and a citizenship. Read your first post again.
2. To be a citizen (not PR) you must have resided in Canada for 3 years in the last four years.

It means once you become a PR, you will have to live in Canada for 3 out of 4 years (will be 4 out of 6) for becoming a citizen. It's a requirement for the citizenship application.
In case you were wondering, a PR is almost same as a citizen but you won't have right to vote. I think you also can't head a public office if you're PR.

Even i am a BSC IT from Mumbai University.

So they best bet for you would be to take a post grad diploma course of 2 year duration from any of the community colleges and then you will be eligible for 3 years PGWP and you need to show one year of full time permanent job and you are eligible for PR under canadian experience class :)
