Hi all
I am PR of Canada and want to sponsor my Indian spouse
He is in USA at the moment on work permit
How do I go about the process?
Couple questions??
does he apply through Indian visa office or US visa office?
How does he get a police verification done in India when he doesnt stay there?
What happens if his work permit expires before he gets a call for the interview ?
Do I follow the rules mentioned for India or the USA?

Please help me out
Thanks
Miti

He can apply through either office. I would pick India if his status in the US is expiring soon.

Information on obtaining the police certificate is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp

If his work permit expires before the processing of his application has been completed, he will have to leave the US. If he receives a request for an interview after he has left, he will have to apply for a tourist visa to come to the US for the interview (CIC will not move the interview). It's typically difficult to obtain a tourist visa in time to attend an interview and there's never a guarantee the tourist visa will be approved. This is why it would likely be better to apply through India if his US status is expiring soon.

Thank you so much for the response

His visa is valid for another year and 3 months but not sure whehter it will be extended or not
how much time do you get before you have to go for the interview?

Also,
Do we follow the rules on information guide as per the USA or India?
3904E
or
3910e

They say it is according to where they live
But then how do we select Indian visa office when we follow the US instructions?

Another and probably the last question:

He hasnt been in USA for six months yet so I believe he doesnt need police verification from there? Am I right?
And also, where do we mention the visa office? I dont see it in any forms
