Once a Canadian passport has been reported lost or stolen, it is no longer valid and cannot be used for travel.

Is the same rule applicable for Indian passport as well, which is lost and reported in Canada? Does it mean the person cannot travel back to India on that passport if it is recovered/found ?

Is the Indian passport, lost in Canada, reported by Canadian police to international criminal police like interpol?

If you get time, check this -

Seems a little risky to me. If the passport was reported stolen. Someone might think you are the thief, and this would no doubt cause endless trouble for you travelling, now and in the future. Also, recovered by who?

I would be nervous if I were you and would probably rather just get a new one irrespective.

Good luck

i would tend to agree regardless of which country the passport is from once reported to the authorities it is effect invalidated and even if it takes time to get back in the OPs case to India immigration the risk of using an invalid passport is too great even the if OP is the passport owner. In fact the OP should look on the positive side if the passport is invalidated as result of being reported as that negates someone potentially using the OPs identity.
