Hello,

I am getting drivers license abstract (license particulars) from Parivaahan website which can essentially be downloaded and printed. This for my motorcycle license. Is this downloaded and printed abstract acceptable at Ontario Drive Test centres ?

Did anyone recently submit this type of abstract ? Back in the day when I did my G license, the abstract was a more formal paper with real sign and stamp which we got from the RTO. But now they say the only thing available is this downloaded soft copy from Parivaahan website. Has anyone recently submitted this at drivetest centres or faced any hassles ?

Since I didn't get a response from here, I went to DriveTest centre myself with a printout of the online abstract and asked the question to the employee there. He told me that the online only abstract from Parivahan are NOT acceptable without a stamp from the RTO. They need an official and original stamp on the driving particulars to accept it as qualifying international driving experience.

Hope this helps anyone looking for this info in the future.

Here’s a simple version of how to get your Indian Driving License (DL) Abstract for Ontario, Canada:

✅ What is Needed?

To prove your Indian driving experience in Ontario, you need a DL Extract from India — it’s an official letter that shows your driving history.

Steps to Get It:

  1. You must have a smart card driving license (the new chip-based one).
  2. Go to this website: https://parivahansewas.com/
  3. Select your state and then apply for "Extract of Driving License".
  4. Download or print the DL Extract — must be computer-generated.

Important Notes:

  • Regular DL printouts or just the Parivahan summary are not accepted in Ontario.
  • If your license is not a smart card (old style), go to your RTO in India and ask for an upgrade.
  • The DL Extract must be from the RTO and linked to Sarathi — and ideally stamped.

Use in Ontario:

  • Submit the DL Extract to DriveTest or Service Ontario when applying for your G license.
  • It helps you skip the G1 or G2 levels based on your experience.
