You are a member and can use the “CA” designation either way. Although some additional requirements exist if you want to have a practice license.

Is there any difference in membership allotted to overseas students who successfully completes UFE and the one who completes CARE? i.e. either of the two will be fine?

Thanks May2010applicant for your reply.

I have gone through the site, and due to the reciprocal arrangement with ICAI the ICAO seems a better option. The UFE exams is done once a year, so wanted to know if there are other Indian CA in this Forum who have already sucessfully completed or in the process of doing their canadian CA.
It will be a very useful and informative support for all of us.

Looking forward to get some reply/Post.

May2010applicant thanks once again.

To the rest linked on this forum, let us try to post at some comments /feedback atleast once or twice a week to keep this forum active and also share whatever relevant information we have.

GOODLUCK!!! ;)

Thanks for your reply.

I am an Indian CA and wants to obtain Canadian CA designation once I reach there. My question is should I appear for "UFE" or "CARE" to obtain Candadian CA designation?

For sure you should opt for CARE (only if you are eligible) as UFE is not a piece of cake.

I am not entirely sure, however, being a CA from India if you have 12+ years of experience (5+ at a senior level) and a Canadian chartered accountant has known you for more than 2 years plus willing to vouch for you, then you may be eligible for CARE, otherwise good luck for the UFE anyways.

Thanks for the explanation.

I am holding COP and practicing since April 2006. Before that, I have completed 3 years as Articled Trainee and worked for 1 year as Audit Assistant. Based on the same, will I be eligible for CARE? From your post appears that I am not.

hello team,

ADVICE OF SR. CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS WORKING IN CANADA WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

I am an indian Chartered accountant working in middle east for the past 8 years. I am planning to migrate during the next 2-3 years (by 2015 ). But totally confused whether to go for Australia or Canada.
Given a choice I would prefer Canada than Australia. I did some research and it seems Canada has more industries, natural resources and potential than Australia. But the no. of visas issued and no. of people migrating to Canada are also much more than Australia. Therefore it seems that it is more difficult to get a job over there compared to Australia.

In fact I read stories in the web about CAs who were doing much better job in their country and were ready to do watchman or even packers and movers job in Canada to feed their family. This is what causing me lot of nervousness for migration and butterflies in my stomach. If I am alone, I can take that risk but with a family it is little too much for me.

Further I plan to migrate with my family and not alone as both my children are studying so any gap would cause problem in their education.

I made some calculations and I can see that to lead a decent life it costs around CAD 4000 per month. So I would need at least CAD 5000 per month after tax salary. I don’t have any friends or relatives in either Canada or Australia to help or advise. Most of my research is done through web only.

If it is Canada, I may go for work either in Vancouver or in Toronto. Preferably to a place with good public transport as I am comfortable with public transport than driving own car. And also my wife will be going to job and a good public transport will be useful.

Also I can see that Canadian companies are insisting on Canadian degree and experience only and anything other than Canadian is foreign.

Friends, Your advice on this would be very much appreciated as i would be making a decision to apply for PR by early next month.

Thanks in advance
