I would like to share my experience for applying my new passport under tatkal.
I wanted to renew my passport for two reasons
1. Change address and keep it the same as Aadhar card to make it easy for India PCC
2. It was going to expire anyways in 2019
From start to end I finished my entire process in 5 days.
1. Feb 12, 2018 (Monday): Filled the online form and submitted under Tatkal
uploaded aadhar card, PAN Card, Election Card and Annexure E (self affidavit, available on the website)
2. Feb 13, 2018: Got the appointment at Pune PSK for afternoon.
Finished the entire process in 25 min. The only document they asked was Aadhar card.
3. Feb 14, 2018: Local Police Station guy came to my house to fill out his form for police verification. I tried to be super polite and nice to him and got the same in return and he submitted my police verification through his tablet in front of me. It took 20 min max. As he kept talking about how fast he is finishing my process I had to keep him happy.
Passport was dispatched the same day.
4. Feb 16, 2018 (Friday): Got my new passport delivered along with sms for police verification cleared.
The additional Rs 2000 for Tatkal was totally worth it!
