OK I think by "stamping" you mean the rubber stamping you get at the entry...anyways I'd be surprised if Indians are denied entry into India. Honestly, I've never considered this a possibliity. An ETA is not a VISA but just an Electronic Travel Authorization. Having an ETA doesn't mean that the VISA is entirely approved (i.e., immigration officials can still reject at entry but this doesn't happen often). Only VISAs stamped on your passport is a valid VISA.
Having said that, the first half of my question was more about the chances of getting a new ETA approved while the current one hasn't expired. I've read online that there is a good chance that it might get rejected and I'll need apply only after the current VISA's expiry. The 5 yr e-VISA seems to have a high success rate in similar scenarios but unfortunately, India doesn't provide 5-yr e-VISA to Canadians.
UPDATE: I applied for a new 1-yr e-VISA about a week before the old one's expiry and was granted in a day or soHello all, I have a 1 year e-tourist VISA (stamped on my passport) and it is about to expire on October 16, 2025 (10 days from now). I might have to travel to India due to an emergency before that date. I have a couple of questions and I'd appreciate help on this matter:
1. Has anyone come across this situation? I'm reading that the application gets rejected if the current one is still valid.
2. I've read that using a travel date of the day after current VISA expiry should be okay i.e., Apply now but use Oct 17 in my case.
3. I'll need to use the new ETA upon arrival (even before Oct 16) and get the new VISA stamped.
I'm very skeptical if all this will work though. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi did u get any update on the other application?I applied e visa for two kids Thursday morning. I received one visa on Friday night but nothing for kid whose application was submitted first . Any idea why this would have happened !!!
Hi, Did u get any reply?Hi ! applied for evisa on Saturday night. The check visa staus says processed with no answer. Its been 72 hours, or is it 72 business hours?
I applied Nov 27th and received on Dec 5th. In the past I've received it in a day or two. Many who applied in the last couple weeks have reported delays by more than a week. Perhaps give it a week or two. I suggest anyone planning to travel give a few weeks gap.I applied for the e-visa on Nov 30th for me, my wife and two kids. Wife got the visa today morning. But for the rest of us no updates yet. Anybody applied recently? What’s the current ETA?
