Incoming Transfer Fees

Hi,

We had sent money from a foreign place to our TD Canada account.

The bank charged a big fee for the incoming transfer. Is this normal ? Is there way to receive funds without getting charged astronomical fees.

pre-negotiate with your bank. Let them know money is coming and negotiate the fees. The the amount is large enough they are usually amenable to talking. Also, don't be afraid to shop around.

Is it $17.50CAD ? That's what I see when I do wire transfer from US TD bank to Canadian TD Canada Trust.
They return this amount next day, so wire transfer is free.
