You guys are thinking way too much into it. If they are a non resident just estimate the amount of income. An approximate is acceptable. They don't really ask for proof. I efile my returns. Also as far as lowering you child tax or gst...I highly doubt that small amount you stated will change it. Plus you put that you and your spouse are in separate residences. Why don't you do a dry run using turbotax....they tell you everything. What your refund is, estimated gst pymts, child tax etc.

I can't do it online, that's the problem. I'm on ODSP as well, and according to Canada Revenue I cannot file online. SIGH! I can't wait for 4 years from now when my husband is applying for citizenship haha. Might make it a little easier.

Well that sucks! How come welfare recipients can file online?...man sorry to hear that it makes life so much simpler..

Haha yeah no kidding! I don't get it either, I'm thinking it's because ODSP doesn't send out any paperwork because I haven't been able to get anything from them for taxes but who knows. Or it could just be because they think people on ODSP have mental issues/learning issues only? (Which has been asked to me a few times when I tell people I'm on ODSP and I tell them nooo It's because I'm hearing impaired!) Sigh. I agree, it would make it easier!!!
