Hi Friends!

I have the my legal name as ABC DEF, and has (George) as my English Name (nick name after I came to Canada).

Do I need to include my Nickname in the police certificate?

Thanks!

No you don't. On PCC it has to be your original Name or same as passport.

Thanks Bro! My employer issued T4 and payslips also have my name as ABC DEF (George), but the Notice of Assessment from CRA and other legal documents in the application only has my legal name ABC DEF; In this case, should I have my Employer Reference Letter has my name as ABC DEF, or ABC DEF (George)?

Also, should I mention my nick name on the Generic Application Form?

In the forms, there is a section for other names you have used. Mention your nick name there.

Does mean in this case, even my T4 slips has ABC DEF (George) as my name, my Notice of Assessment and the rest of documents have my only my legal name ABC DEF, CIC will still understand and accept my application, right?

Nickname hasn't got much impact on you application. But if every document have given name on it then I would suggest not to mention Nickname anywhere on your application just to avoid any kind of further queries.

Hi Goku,

I am confused, I only have my T4 and payslips have my nickname on it, everything else only with my legal name (no nickname), in this case, should I indicate my nickname on the Generic application form? how about Employer Letter in this case? How about police certificate in this case? Thanks!

So, if you are currently using one then mention it how about Employer Letter in this case?As your Nickname is mentioned on T4 and Payslip, try to get it on your Reference Letter as well. If you cant manage to get it then also its ok How about police certificate in this case? When you go for PCC, ask them that if you have to declare your Nickname. See what they have to tell you about that. Thanks!

Mentioning Nickname is your personal opinion. I have never heard anyone who got problem by not mentioning or mentioning Nickname on their own application. Another way to confirm you doubt is to call CIC about it.
