Hello all,
I had to leave the US in October 2018 and go back to my home country because my US visa was nearing expiry. I applied for Canadian PR through Express Entry while in the US but my NY lawyers screwed up so had to reapply from my home country and this time it is under process. I gave my biometrics just yesterday.
I have to go back to the US next month--September/October 2019 to take a few CPA exams so I have to go on a tourist visa but I know that I will need to get a new Police Certificate from the US for after I leave the country. So I am a bit worried about how to manage that and what the implications will be for me. My questions are:
1) Do I need to let CIC know about my intention to visit the US during the application period (pre-US visa; I applied for the US visa but haven't been granted it yet)?
2) Will my old US PCC (FBI background check) become invalid since I am re-entering the country?
3) Will my application become void if I travel to the US?
4) Will I be able to get a new PCC while still in the US and have it be valid or will I need to get a new US PCC issued after leaving the US again and coming back to my home country in October/November?
5) How long might this delay the application procedure?
6) Is it advisable that I not even attempt to go to the US to take my exams right now?--those will expire too so I am in a bit of a time crunch.
ITA: May 17th 2019
AOR: June 14th 2019
Medical passed: July 19th 2019
Biometrics: August 5th 2019
Estimated remaining processing time: 4 months (but since I lived in a LOT of different countries due to my father's profession, I am assuming this will take about a year to process given the extensive background checks needed)
Just really need some advice/help from someone who has done this before. My lawyers are expensive but they have proven they are not the most reliable.
