Our situation:

I am currently sponsoring my husband.
Sponsor: Canadian citizen, giving up US green card so officially only a resident of Canada
Spouse: entered as a skilled worker this past summer on a permit that can be renewed once next summer
Children: one infant child, born in the USA earlier this year, and we still haven't submitted his Canadian citizenship card as I am waiting for my birth certificate from my home province which is required for the application

Questions:

Do I need to submit dependent information form IMM 0008DEP on our son if he is not immigrating, just awaiting confirmation of his citizenship in Canada? Do I need to submit one for myself since I am currently relying on his income while at home with our son for the first year?

Do I need to fill out the spousal background information form since I am a Canadian and he is not bringing me to Canada?

We do not have a notice of assessment from Revenue Canada (or whatever it is called now) and I haven income. We are planning to submit a copy of my husband"s work contract, some pay stubs, and a letter explaining I am currently at home and planning to go back to working the next year or so in a field in which the prevailing wage is significantly higher than the minimum income required. i can provide a copy of my credentials if necessary. Should this suffice for proof of income?

Everything seems pretty straightforward as I went through this when I immigrated to the US, but I wish there was a phone help line as I am just not clear on the semantics in the application guide on these questions. Online forums are way more helpful!!

Thanks!

None of your family is applying for PR except your husband so he is the only person who is in the IMM 0008. If you read the form carefully, it says list your dependents who are not already PR or citizens

He will mention you and your child in the additional family information form.

You will mention on your sponsorship forms somewhere the total number of people in your family.

You do not need to show a specific amount of income to sponsor a spouse. However, as immigration wants to know that you will not end up on welfare, it is a good idea to include a cover letter stating that your husband works and showing his income.
