hello,

i want to know if i can sponsor my mom from india by applying here in canada - she is here on visitors visa fo 6 months which was extended for 6 months - as she is currently here - can i apply to sponsor her from here -or does it need to be delhi

thanks for your help

As long as your mum keeps a Valid status and she is prepared to go back to India for an interview..if one is needed..then YES you can apply for your mum whilst she is in Canada

thanks for letting me know.

but i'm still a bit confused - do i send everything off to the missisuaga office before her stay expires -she is leaving end of september as teh renewed viisa runs out - or can i apply anytime thereafter.

also which visa office will i be going through if she was living in Vancouver fro her temporary stay.

thanks

Yes you should send everything off to mississagau office before her stay expires. This allow her to have implied status to continue staying Canada until the CIC made a decision.

I'm not sure about the visa office. Maybe it's New Delhi since she is from India.

Hi coolcanuk,

You can apply either from within Canada (Inbound) or from outside Canada (Outbound) even if she is in Canada right now. It is generally faster to apply outbound (mississauga). (If she is IN Canada when you apply, you just put her Canadian address as mailing address and residential an Indian address and still apply outbound).

Otherwise if you apply Inbound (vegreville), it's recommended that she doesn't leave the Canada while the application is in process. This could be a problem if her Visa expires and she still haven't received her pr.

I hope this helps,
Goodluck

1. There is no family class "in-Canada" for parents. It either has to be out of Canada or a Humanitarian & Compassionate application.
2. It is also doubtful that the OP's mother will be allowed to remain in Canada as a visitor for the 55-74 months that the application will take between Mississauga and New Delhi.

pmm! You know more than I for sure. I removed my advice, as it will only prove more confusing in this already tricky applications process!

No it won't. From OP 11:

Where possible, officers should advise applicants that it is important to maintain their temporary
resident status while in Canada and that there is no in-Canada immigration class for parents and
grandparents.

As PMM said, there is no family class in-Canada for parents.
