So I just wanted to get this straightened out!!
We are applying for common-law sponsorship going the inland route sending off the papers tomorrow. It's in their hands by Monday when my IEC visa runs out.

Applying with OWP automatically gets me implied status or should I add an extension of my stay too?!

I just wanna make sure I'm doing the right thing!

Inland with an application for an owp gives you implied status yes. So send it, make sure it arrives asap, so use a courier maybe, and then sit tight. You'll be on implied status until stage 1 is over!! :)

Ok good good so no need for a visitor extension, right? Yes, I'm hoping it isn't as bad as I'm thinking it might be lol. Thanks!

Nope you'll be fine. I'm applying outland and my iec expires in march. So at that time I'm going to have to leave canada and change my status.

Inland with a owp application means implied. Don't worry. So long as that sponsor application gets to them before your visa expires then yr all good!

That's why I didn't go Outland because I almost got denied entry in calgary and its shook me up pretty good, I'm not risking anything.

Yes, that's my main concern we are going to finish off everything, pay the fees and print pictures tonight so I'm making sure there's enough coffee to last haha..

I have no choice but to send it off tomorrow cause I'm assuming neither Canada post or the immigration staff work weekends? So it will be received Monday that's the day the visa runs out!! Close call

Yes if you send it with an open work permit application then you are on implied status, and make sure they receive it before your current visa expires.

You can always courier it? Ups or fedex and it'll get there super quick! I sent mine canada post and it took 3 days even though I paid for next day!

Yeah its easier to just stay but I'm gonna be in mexico either way so may aswell change my status then..I just hope it goes ok. Gonna be a nervous flight back!

Hi guys!

I did send my PR application & Open Work Permit at that same time since 6December 2013. Now my visitor visa will be expire on 19 March 2013 which I couldn't apply the Knowlege Test for driving (Class 7). They told me that my visa should have more than 90days. Can I ask CIC to send me any paper that my status is "Implied Status"?

Please help,

Thanks!

Yea I guess you really don't have a choice then. Well you should be fine you paid for the application, it's already in process why would they deny you. I straight up got a warning and was an inch of being sent home..

Do you know if FedEx or UPS work through weekends too?

Yeah man. Best to play it safe. I couldn't answer about the courier. Maybe worth giving them a call.

You are under implied status AFTER YOU GET FIRST STAGE. Before that, and you do not have implied status. You need to apply for an extension.

Ok now I'm very confused. My visa runs out on Monday so I should apply for both OWP and an extension?

If you submit an open work permit with application with the sponsorship i am pretty sure you are on implied status. After 1st stage is already open work permit, so theres no point of being on implied status after first stage.

Yes. Because your work permit won't be processed until after first stage and the extension needs to be for when your current one expires.

Work permits are not touched until after first stage.
