Hello All,

My mom is on super visa and her PR application is approved (first stage approval). She got medicals done as well and currently waiting for passport request. Does this mean that her status is implied and can stay as much as she can? Her duration of stay is expiring this May and I am not sure whether we should go for visitor extension.

Has anyone been in this situation?

PR applications don't give status, only the work permit for inland spousal does.

No, having a PR app in process does not allow her to stay here. She will need to continue to extend her visitor status.

Parent applications are all outland - so no implied status. She needs to extend her visitor visa if she wants to stay longer.

My bad, I should have been more clear. My mom's PR application isn't through parent/grandparent sponsorship but H&C application and that too within Canada. She is not outland applicant.

She even got her health coverage from province as she got first stage approval and her all other formalities are complete including medicals.

I am not sure whether scylla, canuck_in_uk or Aquakitty would still respond the same.

the answer doesn't change. a PR application does not provide a person with implied status, regardless of what type of PR application it is. if she wants to stay in canada longer than her current visa allows, she must apply for an extension to maintain status.

what stage her current PR application is at is irrelevant.
