Hi,

I require some advise and help from you good people.

I applied for a work permit extension because I had received only 8 months of work permit after graduation when I had done 2 courses, each which were 1 year in length.

Few months before my PGWP (which was issued for 8 months) expired, I approached a lawyer and he said, I was supposed to get a work permit for 3 years, so we applied for a work permit extension with reasoning. I am not sure if it will get approved.

I am now currently on a implied status, and a company has offered to do my LMIA. Should I apply for a new work permit while the company applies for an LMIA and can I continue working?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks.

Your question is a bit confusing - I suspect that's why you're not getting answers.

If you're currently on implied status, then you have to wait for a decision to be made on the extension application before you submit a new application of any kind.

1. Common reason to get PGWP shorter than expected is because the passport expires sooner than the PGWP.
If you updated your passport, filled out the proper docs and paided the proper fees (155+100) perhaps you can get a new PGWP.

2. I strongly recommend to obtain a WP LMIA based because:
A.- You will get a WP independent of your PGWP application (which could not work)
B.- Your options for EE will be bigger with LMIA.

So go ahead for this job LMIA based ASAP

(Also apply EE as soon you meet the requirements)
