If you looking to get implied status and work few months, you need to apply using a paper application. Make sure you send them application before your status expire, and use shipping with tracking number enabled.

Here you can find all forms: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

But remember it will rejected if you do not have/couldn't send them LAIM or PNP supportive letter before this application process.

Other option is apply for change your status as a visitor. You may do so by using these forms: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

This visitor application will be accepted if you prove you have enough money to stay.

I have already applied for PR to CIO under the OPNP but I still haven't received the AoR.
Can I still file a paper or online application for BOWP on the basis of just the work permit support letter from the province and a copy of my nomination certificate? My current WP expires in less than a month and God knows when they're going to send the AoR, its been 2 months already.

Yes, you have to contact PNP office. They should send you a supportive letter, if your nomination has been approved. This process called "Bridging Open Work Permit", and here you can find more information.

So this is the story.

Basically if your work permit is going to expire and if you do not have any supporting document in hand to get a work permit, your workpermit application will be rejected by CIC. After recieve your rejection letter/email you need to stop working and need to restore your status. But during the process you are in implied status. That's mean you can work and have some money save for your next application and meantime you can try to find LIMA or another employer who can provide a LIMA (or get PNP certificate and supportive letter).

If you receive one of these supportive letter before they process your application, you can submit it to CIC, and they will approve your application.

If you apply online, it is fast and decision will be made so fast.

If you use paper application, it will take time to process and you have time to do your other work as I mentioned earlier. So basically we use paper application to late the process, and get more time to prepare for next step.

I still don't have the nomination certificate. I just got my AINP file number last Septembr.Do u think they will give supporting letter but l'll try to contact them.

Hi,

OPNP or Opportunities Ontario are employer-driven streams. With what you have:
- work support letter
- nomination certificate
You can apply for a WP - but that usually will be restricted/closed to the employer "sponsoring" (the one who gave the job offer) your application. The WP support letter can be used in-place of an LMIA, but again, it will result in a WP tied to that employer, not an open work permit. Unless you are nominated under International Student Category (Master's/PhD) - a work support letter under that stream allows for an open work permit. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob406.asp

If your intent is to continue working for the employer who gave the job offer and hence enabling your nomination, then you can apply for a closed WP ( with that work support letter). Depending on your circumstance, this seems to be the immediate way to continue your status, given your WP is expiring soon.

If your intent is to get a BOWP, then the AoR/PER is important, and the work permit support letter is not included in the list of requirements for the BOWP. This becomes dependent on when the AoR/PER is obtained, and there is the possibility of not getting it in time for a BOWP application.

If a visitor, student or foreign worker applies to extend their status, before that status expires, they can legally remain in Canada until a decision is made on the application. In this situation, the person has implied status.

I usually fill that form, which includes UCI, Birthday, Address, and Telephone No.
