Hi everyone,

My Working Holiday Visa is going to expire next June. I have read online that IEC visas cannot get Implied Status. However, I called CIC last Friday and the agent told me that if you apply to an LMO before your WHV expires, you get Implied Status. Does anybody know what is the truth about WHV and Implied Status? Is it written somewhere in a CIC manual? Thanks!

Unfortunately we hears lots of stories about agents giving out bad information. The advice this agent gave you is particularly bad. Submitting an LMO doesn't give anyone implied status - regardless of what kind of work permit they are on.

I applied for work permit extension for which i knew it will be refused after whv and it bought me addtion 2.5 month in implied status. I had no problem getting new one when i reapplied for new whv outside of canada

There's definitely no implied status. You were just lucky and didn't get caught. There have been a couple of stories on this forum of people who were caught and CIC was crystal clear in explaining that implied status doesn't apply to WHVs and they had been working illegally. In both cases the illegal work created big issues for their immigration applications.

But again, it appears not everyone is caught. You just have to hope you're one of the lucky ones.

I got official letter saying that my legal status is expired as of 2.5 months after my permit expired. I applied for visa extension and that automatically gives you implied status, at the time my consultant showed me that on government website. WHV is simple temporary visa gained thru Working hollyday program, each country has different periods of issuing them ,but it doesn't have special status from how I understood it

Implied Status is given for only for visa's that are extendable.

WHV's are not extendable, you have to re-apply for a new one.

WHV is a temporary WP , or goes under that type , I got official reply from CIC after 2.5 months that they are denying my extension and that my legal status is expired as of day I have received it. Also they said I have 90 days to resolve my status or leave Canada
