Implied status after WH application for YP pending

Hi,

I have an urgent question, I am on my open work permit/Working Holiday visa but it is expiring in 2 days, I applied for the Young Professionals pool and got invited to apply and started my application last week. I got send a letter that I have until the 20th of September to submit the "employer ID" of my employer that I need for my next work permit and fill out all the info for the YP WP.

Does that mean I will be in implied status after my current open work permit expires this Sunday or do I need to apply for a visitor visa today so I am in "implied status"? I was of the opinion I am already in "implied" status because I started my application on CIC for the "Young Professionals" Work permit category. I am from the EU so can stay in Canada as a visitor for up to 6 month.

Do I need go to the border this weekend and ask for a visitor visa or can I just wait until the 20th of September or do I need to start a visitor visa application online until I get my next work permit?

Thanks for a fast answer, this just came up because my friend said I would not be in "implied" status even though I have started my next application for YP.

No - you don't have implied status.

You need to apply to change your status to visitor before your work permit expires. And make sure you stop working as soon as your work permit expires.

Hi Scylla,

thanks so much for the quick response. So I looked it up and do you know if I have to use the "extend your stay" visitor page (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend/visa.asp) or the eTA apply for "visitor visa" online application? As I am already "In Canada" I think it is the first one, and I am from a EU country that is "Visa exempt" for visitors so do not need a visitor visa.
