I am just curious if staying in a friends house for free so someone is their at their home with their child while theyre away from work is a violation of a study permit? Would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks

It's not a violation of the study permit as long as your study permit allows you to work off campus.
You are receiving payment for taking care of the child through free accommodations and for this reason this is classified as off campus work. The maximum number of hours you can take care of the child per week is 20. If you are also working in another off campus job, then the maximum total number of combined hours you can spend at that job and taking care of the child is 20 per week.
