My cousin (my maternal uncle’s son) has applied for asylum in the United States after entering the country illegally through the Mexican border. I currently live in Saskatchewan, Canada, and hold Permanent Resident (PR) status.
Under the SINP OID program criteria, my cousin may be eligible to receive additional points based on our family relationship. He also meets the requirements for education and work experience to apply for SINP OID.
My question is: would his illegal entry into the United States and his ongoing asylum application negatively affect his eligibility for the SINP OID program and any subsequent application with IRCC?
