Hi. I am 26, live in Glasgow, Scotland & I am looking to immigrate to Canada within the next couple of years. I don't know if I qualify though. I have a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Graphic Design but don't have a career in this field. My family & friends live in Barrie & Smith Falls, Ontario. My ambition is to move to Canada permanently & start a new life there, hopefully gaining entry to the Fire Department. Does anyone know if I have a good chance of achieving this goal? Billy

There's no family support under the Ontario PNP and at 26, you don't qualify to be sponsored federally so you need to qualify on your own. Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp and try to find something you can qualify for.

There is also a chance for you to initially visit Canada with a work holiday programme which allows you to work in Canada while you stay there. I think WHP lasts up to 12 months. Once you are in Canada you can find an employer who can sponsor you for a work visa and if after 2 years of work in Canada you will have several options to immigrate to Canada.
The info on work holiday programme is here : http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/missions/unitedkingdom-royaumeuni//youth_jeunes/youth_mobil_jeunes-UK-RU-eng.asp
Best of luck !
