Apparently cic bureaucrats placed 6 federal workers into a televised citizenship re-affirmation ceremony and tried to play it off as a group of "new Canadians" taking the oath of citizenship.

Fake, fake, fake Mr Kenney.

I was just reading this article a few minutes ago. So riddiculous in so many ways...

My opinion is the government is just trying to let the general population knows how important citizenship is during the Citizenship week. What is wrong with having some one stand in. This was never a real swearing in ceremony, it is just a recreation of such so no malice intended. Its just like watching delayed telecast on TV. Those Canadians who act as stand in participants, though they are already Canadian can still do the reaffirmation of the oath of citizenship and I dont see anything wrong with it. If you have been to a oath taking ceremony usually the judge also ask canadians already to reaffirm their oath together with the new Canadians.

The only problem is that they posed as NEW Canadians. It's mis-representation and Immigration generally frown at things like this when it comes to Immigrants. If you were a PR and you mis represent your self at a point of entry they give you a hard time.

So in my opinion this is double standards

I agree. And the tv hosts were either misinformed (which is what they claim) or willing participants in the misrepresentation as they repeatedly referred to the group of people as “new Canadians” that had “finally” received their citizenship. And, in my opinion, somewhat more concerning than the tv hosts is the fact that the bureaucrat stand-ins all kept their mouths shut and thus are also guilty of misrepresentation.
