My cousin and her family husband and daughter have an interest to immigrate to Canada from Lebanon.

They are a young family. They have a daughter who is <1 year old. My cousin has a masters degree in physiotherapy from the Lebanese university and her husband has a biochemistry bachelor of science also from the Lebanese university. What is their best option to immigrate? They are looking into the family immigration path. I’m curious if there are any other options given their education.

Any help is appreciated thanks

Family immigration isn't the right path. You cannot sponsor them.

They will need to dedicate time to researching Canada's various economic immigration programs.

They will need to qualify for PR through an Economic Immigration stream like Express Entry. Express Entry is a points-based program where those with the most points are selected from the applicant pool. Right now you need to have around 470+ points to have a good chance of being selected. They can read more about the program here and how to apply. I would also recommend they calculate how many points they think they have to determine their chances of being successful through this program.

Ok thanks that looks good. I didn’t mean that I would sponsor them under family as that’s for spousal, parents and grand parents. I meant can they apply to immigrate as a family? Is the economic stream the only way?

I will get them to fill this out and see if they have enough points.

Thanks again

They can certainly apply as a family - however they will need to qualify and apply through one of the economic immigration streams like PNP or EE.

They should also realize that this isn’t a fast process and will need to sit their language tests first. They are probably looking at a year at the very minimum. The husband will likely be the primary applicant. He will have to requalify as a physiotherapist. On a positive note Canada needs physiotherapist so there is a good chance physiotherapist will be on the PNP list for some provinces even though he won’t be licensed to work when he arrives.
