Myself and my partner have been in canada for 2 years. I came over on an intra-company transfer, I had a temporary work permit valid for 1 year which I re-applied for in August 2012, my current one expires in Dec 2013. Both work permits are restrict me to working for my company.

My partner came over on a working holiday visa which she re-applied for after 1 year. Her current working holiday visa expires in Oct 2013.

Since she can only apply for the working holiday visa twice, I am now applying to renew my visa, with my partner as a common-law family member (we have lived together for 2 years).

Questions:
My application:
1 - What type of work permit are you applying for? - My current work permit is restricts me to working for my company, but the only options listed are 'Open Work Permit', or ones specific to education, healthcare or agriculture. I can select 'Other' but not sure what to put on the 'Other' box as the description.

My Partner's application
1- I am applying for one or more of the following - Her current work permit is a working holiday visa... what do we select here? I am guessing "A work permit with the same employer" & "Extension of temporary resident permit"? (Its not technically a work permit wit the same employer as its 'open')

2 - Details of intended work in canada - My partner has had a job for over a year, but is applying for an open work permit. Does she still need to list her employers details? The online form is not asking for an offer letter for her (only myself).

Thanks!!

Ok, reading the forums, I think I have managed to unconfuddle some of my questions.

It sounds like they have changed the system since I last re-applied for my work permit renewal and that since we have put in a PR application, I am applying for a BOWP (correct?).

So.. to modify my first question, it sounds like I should be applying for an open work permit. I am staying with the same employer, but I am not sure if I have an LMO number. Should i fill in the employer details or leave it blank?

A lot of people are talking about their AOR. We have received ours, but it doesnt say anywhere on my current application that I need to send it in?

Still trying to solve the questions for my partners application :D

Thanks

For some unknown reason, these forms have not yet been updated to accommodate the BOWP...

If you apply online, you have to complete a questionnaire first, which will provide you with a tailored document checklist. The questionnaire asks if you've received "approval in principal" for a permanent residence application (in the case of CEC, that's the AOR, so you would answer "yes" to this).

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe if you do it that way (electronically), it will tell you to include a copy of the AOR. Good idea to do it anyway.

You and your "dependent" would both be applying for open work permits. You can write your employer info (or not), LMO is "Not applicable."

Does AOR = "approval in principal"? I answered no to that question as I thought that approval in principal meant that my PR had been accepted but we had not received our PR cards yet...?

Can you confirm
Thanks
