Hi All,

I am applying for the visitor visa. However, I stumbled upon a question that I couldn't answer and comprehend

For question 9 'country where applying: same as country of residence' I had to answer no because I'm applying from Indonesia (I am an Indonesian passport holder) whereas my residency is the United States as a student (I hold a US F-1 Visa).

The next question is indicate the status in the country that you are applying (Indonesia). I also put down citizen as I am obviously a citizen of that country.

What should I put the start date and end date of that question? I put my birth date as that is when I became an Indonesian citizen (by birth). But what should i put for the end date?

Please Help

Thanks

hi there,

i think ur taking it wrong. start and end dates indicate your trip duration like when u r going and when u will be back, not your dob :D Moreover it is asking ur status of the country u r applying, u r applying for Canada then y r u mentioning ur Indonesia status?
Please be careful before applying, they may simply reject ur application if they find mistakes on ur application form itself they don't even make a point to check ur documents.

i think you're taking it wrong. i am answering the question 'which country am i applying the canadian visa from' well obviously it is Indonesia. Because I'm submitting my canadian visa application from Jakarta.

However, even though I am an Indonesian applying from Jakarta, they still require a start and end date of my status in Jakarta. Well, my status in jakarta is citizen and technically i dont have an end date as I will continue being an indonesian.

@geogoreya

If you select *citizen* as your *Current country of residence* (ie Indonesia - even if you are there for a short visit)..... then the From and To dates boxes should get disabled. So you do not have to enter your DOB. If you select any other immigration status then these date boxes will get enabled and you'll have to input dates.

You must enter your US residence details in the next question: *Previous countries of residence*..... select *Yes* and provide your US details

@ Bryanna

I select *student* for my *current country of residence* (as I am a current F1 visa holder and student studying in the United States). That should be pretty straight forward in providing the start and end date as it is stated clearly in my US F1 visa.

However my question is that. I am applying NOT from my current country of residence. I am applying from Indonesia, and even though I've selected the citizen option it still requires me to fill in the start and end date. What dates should I fill in, because obviously there is no end for me being an Indonesian citizen.

In a similar situation here! What did you finally put as the to date?

@Bryanna , i have a friend who plans to apply for a tr visa to canada from another country she is visiting as a tourist. In the section "Country you are applying from" in the form imm5257e, what should she enter as the last date of immigration status? Because she has a 1 year visa but she plans to stay there only for 4 months. please advice. Or should she enter in that she will be applying from her country of residence even though she will not be there when sending the application online?

Any updates anyone? It is a little urgent.
