IMM4294e Form does not allow me to enter date of joining of my university correctly

Hi Guys,

I recently started studying at university of Windsor (study from home) in Winter 2021. I had not applied for visa since my course was online. But now, I do have to apply since my university is DLI approved. The problem is that, I am not able to enter my date of joining (ie January 2021) as it does not allow me to validate the form giving the error "The date of joining must be greater or equal to today's date). Kindly Advise.

First of all I believe that you have wrote the wrong from Number.

If you are applying for Study Visa, you need to fill IMM 1294 not IMM4294.

Also I can see you are facing error for "Duration of Expected Study" field.

The form Validation is Right because Technically you can't apply Visa for Past Dates.
(They can only issue visa for future dates.)

Due to the current situation all classes are being held online. I may have made this error of not applying for the study permit but I guess my university had given some sort of leniency which made me lil laid back.

Apologies for the incorrect form number. Would any supporting documents help? like an offer letter? or any of that sort? as i'm still studying from home which was advised by the university until further notice.

For this I believe no documents will help. But you should ask senior members in the Group or consult any Immigration Consultant.

I can understand your situation but in a Practical scenario it is not possible for any government to issue a Back dated Visa.

And if possible then.....

This would be the scenario where you will be getting the Visa before the date of your application.
And in Practical scenario From Date on Visa must be after the Application Date (the date on which you submit the application)

Consider below example using some fake dates, I have tried to explain.

Below is for example purpose only to clear your thoughts.

What would happen if possible to issue Back dated visa.

for e.g.

Your College Start Date : 10 January, 2021
Your Application Submission Date : April 20, 2021.
Your Visa Validity :
From : 05 January 2021
To : 05 January 2023

If they allow you to have Visa since your college has started then......
This would be the scenario where you will be getting the Visa before even you have applied. (Visa From date can not be greater than your application date)
