IMM 5409: Statutory declaration of common-law union

Dear all,

I am in the process of filing my application for Canadian PR. However, I am stuck somewhere and need help of you guys. My question is.......what is the meaning of 'common-law union'. Is it synonymous to 'being married' or what else? I am married. Should I submit this form IMM 5409?

You are married and you have marriage certificate. This doesn't apply to you so ignore it.
