Hi Everyone,

My brother filled the forms IM0008 last March 2014. However, just yesterday, he noticed that his name was reversed. He accidentally put his first name on the section of Last Name and vice versa. Also, there were some more mistakes , so what he did was to download the forms again and filled out the forms correctly this time. Validated again. Then, printed them out. Now we are worried as to the consequences of such actions. Is it legally wrong to just change information in the IM0008 that was already validated? what's going to happen now? he hasn't passed the forms yet. what should we do? :( :( :( :(

Hi Yeene, that's alright. You can edit the information in the forms as many times as you want. Validating the forms means you have filled up all the relevant portion and you didn't missed out anything.

Thank you so much!! You're such an angel. I thought I screwed up my brother's application. It was my idea to correct the forms. Thanks again! :*

You're welcome! Also, don't forget to always check for an updated forms in CIC website since they always update the forms. My advise is just print out and fill the latest version of form for the meantime but few days before he submit his applications he needs to check the CIC website again and make sure what he got was the updated one. You dont want his applications return just because of outdated forms.

hi,

I just want to ask regarding the filling up of the application. Is it better to fill this up manually or thru computer? Since according to them if the question is not applicable to you, just put "NA" and do not leave any blanks. In the case of filling up via computer you cannot do that in other forms. How is that? Please help me.. Im a newbie only.. Thank u

I suggest you fill it up electronically, especially IMM1344 (Application to Sponsor, SA & Undertaking) & IMM0008 (Generic Application Form), this two forms generates a barcode upon validation, which means you filled up all info that is applicable to you. This will minimize error in filling up.

Dont worry those spaces not applicable to you will be "shaded" once you select an answer for the abovementioned forms. Example in Form IMM008 : Question#14 Have you previously been married or in a common law relationship? If you click 'No" the space for the name / type of relationship / date of relation which is not applicable to you will automatically being 'shaded'.

Other forms you can write N/A even if you fill up electronically.

Thank you! But my husband suggested that it is better to fill up manually somthat i will not leave spaces and put NA on the questions not applicable to me.. Imtold him that i will fill up both (manual and electronic) would that be possible?

What do you mean by "he hasn't passed the forms yet"? Are you saying that he filled out the forms in March, but hasn't actually mailed them in yet?

If so, he needs to be aware that some of the forms may have been updated and he should check the CIC website. Sending an outdated form is a good way to have the entire application sent back!
