Hi, I'm Widow live in USA and would like to apply for skilled migration. I have the points and the other qualifications. I want to know whether I can sponsor my mother-in-law & father-in-law after I get my PR? Do I still have the legal relationship?

Yes you can through family sponsorship program; only after you start filing your tax returns in Canada.

No, you can not sponsor your mother-in-law and father-in-law as they are not related to you.

Casper you can as long as you can proof that they are the real mother and father of your deceased Husband, according to the canadian immigration law, when you fill in your documents you have to write enery thing about your family like wise your own and your spouse.

so yes you can.

Please read the instructions.

Who can be sponsored

You can sponsor: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives-apply-who.asp

* parents
* grandparents
* brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship
* another relative of any age or relationship but only under specific conditions (see Note below)
* accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).

They are not her parents. They are her in-laws.

PMM great........ this is the way to guide properly...good mate ..keep up the good work

Leon,
Is that because they are not my relatoins? or since my spouse is passed away?

It is because they are not your relatives. If your husband were alive, he would have to be the one to sponsor them because they are his parents. Your role in that sponsorship could be at most as co-signer of the application in case his income were too low.
