Illness on landing?

Hello,

My common law spouse is landing this Friday, (we applied Outland so he is landing via air at YVR) and he’s suddenly very worried about his landing because he got a tattoo last week that has swollen and he can’t walk very well. He’s going to the doctor tomorrow to find out if it’s infected but could this in anyway affect his landing? Will they ask any questions or want proof of evidence of his health condition?

Also any last minute generic landing tips?

Landing stage means you are all ready approved, subject to signing some papers. You do not need to inform them about why he may be limping.

Be aware that some province do not have healthcare coverage until 2 to 3 months after the PR landed. He should get it treated before he land. And hopefully, you have already purchase travel insurance for the time period not covered by provincial healthcare.

If your province start coverage on day 1, then you don't have to worry about medical emergency.

Good point by YVR123. I note he is landing at YVR.

If he is going to be resident in BC, then there is a 3 month waiting period for provincial medical cover.

If (by any chance) he will reside in Alberta, then there is no waiting period (he must of course register for provincial healthcare for coverage to commence).

Also good idea to get an infection under control before flying over the ocean and a long flight. Not a time or place to get septic.
