We finally mailed my husband's application! Yaaaay!

& we have a quick question - my husband wants to continue his studies in Canada. Will he need to pass IETLS or TOEFL to continue in Canada as a permanent resident?

No. The government is considering imposing language proficiency requirements for potential permanent residents in the future, but at the moment there are none and certainly none like IETLS or TOEFL.

If you husbands wants to study at college/university level than yes absolutely he will have to pass IETLS or TOEFL if his country of origin does not use English or French as a first language.

If your question is whether he will need a sufficient IETLS or TOEFL score to gain entrance to a university program in Canada, then the answer is yes. I thought you were asking if he needed a IETLS or TOEFL score to obtain his permanent residence status.
