IELTS VS CLB

Hi All

please advice, i am applying for SKW , category B NOC code 6551. and my IELTS results are like this :

speaking 7.5 reading 6.00 listening 5.5 writing 6.5

so is my IELTS score enough to meet the CLB criteria or should i retake the test ?

Speaking 7.5 = 4 points
Reading 6.0 = 2 points
Listening 5.5 = 2 points
Writing 6.5 = 4 points
Total = 12 points out of possible 16

You speak of CLB so maybe you are applying under CEC? If that is the case, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp#5609E2 for info on IELTS -> CLB

Speaking 7.5 = CLB 9
Reading 6.0 = CLB 7
Listening 5.5 = CLB 6
Writing 6.5 = CLB 8

For NOC B, you only need CLB 5, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp so you are well above what you need.

Dear All,

I have appeared for IELTS on 27 th april from British council in Chandigarh, The venue of exam was not of the standards of BC,

Please suggest if i can make the complaints reg the below points to British council @
commentsandcomplaints@britishcouncil.org


1. In Exam they have executed Reading First then writing then listening which was not in order as per as the format shared by British council .

2. There was lot of noise in center as it was adjacent to Kitchen of hotel

Please suggest on priority.

You see that your Listening is CLB Level 6, Reading is 9, Writing is 7 and Speaking is 7

If you are planning on applying under CEC, you would be ok for a B skilled occupation because it only requires CLB level 5 but if you want to apply under a skill class A or 0, you would have to improve your Listening to at least 6.0

First look at the table above your message to determine the CLB level for each language ability.

You will see that you have Listening at CLB 7 and everything else at CLB 9 or higher.

Then look at this table for FSW:

Calculate your language points for your first official language in all four language areas.

To get points for your second official language, you must meet the minimum level of CLB 5 in all four language areas.

Please Note: You can only get points for your second official language if you meet the threshold of CLB 5 in all four language abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing). You can score four points for your second official language skills.
