Hi all
To anyone who is about to take the IELTS test , I can give you a little insight .
We arrived at 8.30 am after we signed in at the centre with our passport and had our photos and finger prints done , we were ready to sit the first test ... The listening test , I was dreading this . The test starts out quite easy but then the pace of the recordings seems to quicken and it's very easy to miss what is being said , this lasted about 30 minutes. Next came the reading test , again this test started off easy with basically fill in the gaps and match the sentences , but then became more complex towards questions 30-40. Then the writing test and to be honest I found this really easy , we wrote about a simple subject for about 150 words and a second topic for a further 250 words , we had an hour to complete this , but you must take care with spellings etc .Finally later that day week had a 15 minute interview for the speaking test , you are asked simple questions like , give your first name and what's your occupation , then they ask you questions on a particular suject like public transport, and you have to have a discussion about the pro's and con' s . Finally you are then asked to take for 2 minutes about a subject , mine was about a trip I had taken recently , and the they ask a few questions about it , like how you travelled there and how long it took etc .
That was it basically , but I bumped into a poor guy after the test , who said he had taken the test 5 times in order to get the score he needed, which was very disheartening .
Good Luck if you are about to take this test !!!
