Hello to all forum members!
I have 2 questions about IELTS.
1) How long does the result valid?
2) What are the scores required to get 67 points for a PhD between 30-40 years old, on 38-list, spouse is the same, no job offer, no relatives in Canada. I mean do I have to get 7,7,7,7 or lower scores will be enough?
THANKS a lot to all of you, for your time and help and patience.
Happy Holidays.

Yes......but no. The IELTS Certificate is valid for 2 years in general, but Immigration Canada requires results not older than 1 year.

Hi BCguy,

Greetings!! I am planning to apply for Canadian PR in skilled workers category.

Your posts are really helpful. I have couple of doubts and I'll appreciate If you could help me too:

1) I am doing my Masters in Microelectronics Engg. in USA, on F1 visa. I gave my Toefl in Aug'06( CBT-257 score) and GRE (1310). I know my scores are not valid anymore, but do I still have to give Ielts even if I am doing my Masters in US (my BS was in India, but my schooling and BS was all in English medium)? Since, I am doing my Masters with a Thesis option (which requires me to read a lot of literature and research papers, work as teaching assistant and publish my thesis in English), so can I get a waiver, so as not to give Ielts and send them my previous Toefl scores and GRE scores and all this explanation? ( GRE's verbal section is far more tougher than Toefl or Ielts)

2) I have a one year full time experience in India as a Teaching assistant in a college and a part time experience as a Research Assistant in USA which is paid stipend position. So, will it considered as work experience ?

3) My last question:

Will it be more useful to apply for BC PNP or as a normal skilled worker w.r.t. time it takes to process??

Thanks Rupeshhari,

Thanks for your advice. I have some more questions:

Do I have to submit my original Ielts test score with the application and does the scores have to be with application package or can I send them later?

Is there any way that CIC accepts the test scores reported by Ielts, if I ask Ielts to report scores on my behalf to CIC, or I have to submit them on my own?

I have an arranged employment offer in BC, So do you think I should go for PNP or FSW, which should be easier and faster way.

Gerry~

Hi,sobol, i think u ve got sufficient replies for ur Q 1.For Q no.2, U just need to tell abt ur experience years also(although i hope it would be at least 4 years to claim maximum points)According to info provided in my view ur points shd be like this:
Education 25
Age 10
spouse 5
Experience 21(if u ve atleast 4 years of full time experience in the last ten yrs )

So till now according to the info provided u ve scored 61 points so in my view u shd be needing atleast 6 points for ur language abilities ,so a band less than 7 in any module will easily do for u.although as its always better to be safe than sorry,so even requiring very low band in IELTS,still try to get a band of atleast 6.5 (according to new rules abt IELTS)as it ll not only confirm ur PR points but ll also provide u an interview waiver. All the best.
