Ielts and diff passport number

Guys i have a question please,my wife took ielts with her old passport number and we are planning to renew it in few weeks ,will it be a problem since her ielts report will have the old number and not the new one,btw am not 100% sure if the passport no will be changed if renewed or not

I asked the IELTS centre this recently, they said no problem, just declare this in an LOE, with a picture of the old passport if possible.
