Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone can help me but can't seem to find the answer to my question. And getting a hold of immigration is a pain.

So I have a 2 yr open work permit and had to travel back home, Australia, as my mother passed away. I stayed for a while to sort out her affairs and wanted to know if there was a special circumstance I could try and get some months back. I don't expect to get it all back if possibly.

If anyone has some info on this that would be muchly appreciated!!!

No - unfortunately it's not possible to claim lost months. Once they're gone - they're gone.

If your IEC Work Permit expires while your in Canada you can change your status to a Visitor Visa which costs around $100.00 Canadian Dollar. Unfortunately the IEC Open Work Permit cannot be extended and a new one cannot be issued to you.
