I know what CIC says. They basically say that you have to tell the truth. And also, when it comes to the process of work permits they simply go by the book. So since IEC is a program being processed by the individual countries of citizenship (it is Berlin by the way, not Vienna. Vienna takes care of all PR applications and work permits EXCEPT for those that fall under the IEC initiative), you are obliged to fill out the form for a work permit made OUTSIDE of Canada. If you are INSIDE of Canada, you do not qualify. Yes, IEC technically says you CAN apply for a second IEC visa while still in Canada (which is why they will accept you for stage 1) but CIC then provides you with a work permit application made from OUTSIDE Canada. I know, it's stupid. They should change that and hence give you the choice between the two forms (inland and outland). But....they don't. And the officers don't care. Like I said, they go by the book. If you are filling out a form for an application made OUTSIDE of Canada while being IN the country, you are not eligible. Period. I've seen it happening quite a few times in different forums now, it's stupid but if it's the way it is - so be it. If anyone wants to gamble, hey, go for it! But I certainly don't want to jeopardize my visa and will go super safe and claim to be in Germany. This is what my co-worker did and it worked. ;)

Flo85: How were you able to submit your IEC application if you never made the payment?!

Marlee: I uploaded all my paperwork, made the electronic signature and then there was a note that if I am exempt of paying the fees, CIC will automatically submit the application. And then it happenend.
I was wondering the whole time already since in the document list at MyCIC it was always shown $0 as an estimated fee. So I dont know what I did wrong.

Just as an information. How long does it CIC take to refuse an application that I can apply again?

flo, I answered the questionnaire for the WP as IEC and the document checklist shows the fee as $0.0

You can send an enquire for an application submitted online through your MyCIC account. send an email to question@cic.gc.ca . Write “Fee of IEC WP online application” in the subject line.

Write your enqure and include the following information in the email:

Your name
Your Unique Client Identifier (UCI) (if you have one)
Your date of birth
Your country of birth
Your complete address (if your mailing address is different from your residential address, please provide both addresses)
Your telephone number
Your application type
The date you submitted your online application
Your application number (if known)

Of course it says $0 - you already paid your fees at the IEC stage. No worries, everything's good! :)

Hello Marlee ,

I told Flo85 that the wp fee was paid in the first stage process, but got confused as you asked why was able to submit the application if the payment was never made. I gave him the email address so he could sleep as
It seems like you and I have contradictory information and we are creating more confusion on him.

I know that some IEC applications were refused , i read that some applicants used the application to extend your stay or change your status in canada which is the incorrect form to apply.

I believe that both of you are safe, either selecting Canada as current country of residence or you own country of citizenship as you are using the application for a work permit outside Canada, that can be submitted by people legally admited in Canada and gets processed in USA or country of citizenship . I wish you both luck with their applications and please confirm when you get your approval, around ten days , this way we can resolve the mistery of which country must be selected while living in Canada.

As You mentioned IEC work permits are an iniciative of Foreign Affairs Trade and Development Canada and the second stage is procesed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada , rules are a little diferent but the final stage of the application is bound by IRPA and its regulations.

Have a good night ! And please keep us posted

It took Flo only 4 days for his IEC application to be approved (stage 1). It's day 4 for me now as well but I haven't heard from them yet. I mean I can't submit my CIC application yet anyway, since I am still waiting for my German police certificate and that might take a while (I faxed the police certificate application just 3 days ago)...but I'm so impatient! Argh! :/

haha marlee. I know that feeling. You should hear back from IEC by Monday, Tuesday!

All we can do now, is waiting :)

And hoping! My job here is not linked to my educational background. However, I have held the position for an entire year now. I hope that still qualifies as it says the job has to be related to the educational background and/or the work experience. Fingers crossed! :-X

Just received my CAL! :D

hey guys, I just got a message from MyCIC with my POE Introduction letter.

My application has been approved already! And it works Marlee. And thank you susana :) that was a crazy quick process.
Ill keep in touch with you guys since I would like to know how it goes with the flagpoling for you.

Read you. Flo

What works? Saying you are applying from Germany (question 9)? I can still change it since I haven't submitted my CIC stuff yet.

I'm still waiting for my police certificate. Sent the fax exactly a week ago. How long did it take for you until you got yours from Bonn?

How long did it take from the submission of your CIC files until you got your POE?

Congrats, by the way, I'm really, really happy for you! :D

Hey just got my german police certificate by mail (I'm also already in Canada)! And now filling out IMM1295...as usual it's a pain.

I be more than happy to stay in touch with you guys, and maybe we can help each other!
