Hi all,

I am a New Zealand citizen and I am currently in Canada on visitors Visa.
I applied for IEC in New Zealand after coming to Canada and CIC in Sydney(that is where New Zealand IEC cases are assessed) rejected it.
Reason : It appears you are applying for a work permit under International Experience Canada as a means to remain in Canada.

Sorry forgot to add I do not have any criminal background what so ever.
I think it is a very stupid reason.....
The quota is still not full for NZ as I am writing this....
Now my question to all you learned people on here is:
1) Should I reapply?? If yes should I do it right away or wait for a while?
2) Would attaching a local Canadian MPs letter help? If yes what should the exact format be of the letter?

Thanks all

Sure - you can try re-applying. Note that it's not unheard of to have a work visa refused for these reasons. This happens relatively frequently to regular work permit applicants. I don't think waiting a while will help unless you're planning to return home and apply from there.

No - I don't see that a letter from an MP will help (if anything I think this just shows how strong your ties to Canada are).

If you re-apply, I would include evidence that demonstrates you have strong ties to New Zealand and have a life there you plan to return to once your stint on the IEC is done.

thanks for the quick help...
but I have heard if they reject it once they will keep rejecting it from now on....is that true?
Also how much ties can a single guy my age have in any country?? its bit hard to establish any sort of ties....

1. You application had to sent from an address in New Zealand see: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/new_zealand-nouvelle_zelande/experience_canada_experience/FAQ.aspx?view=d
2. There is also habitual residence. If you have been outside New Zealand for longer than 18 months in the past 3 years, you are probably not eligible.
