Hi everyone,

I just received my invitation to apply for the "Young Professionals" visa, but unfortunately I have a fixed time frame to go to Canada and to come back (mid Februrary till mid April).
Now if I didn't get the visa in time (I'm still waiting for my future employer to pay the compliance fee) I would still go there on vacation. I studied in Canada a year ago, so my eTA is still valid.

So now my question to you:
Is it possible that I enter Canada as a tourist (and go there for vacation, just visiting old friends) even though my work permit has not gone completely through and then as soon as I got the visa to work, I could leave Canada (e.g. USA) and then re-enter with the IEC visa and then start with my work?

If not, do you have any other suggestions how I could make it work? I would buy my tickets soonish and then decide whether I will just go there for vacation or to work depending on the options I have with the visa situation.

Thank you so much in advance. I appreciate it a lot!

Cheers

Assuming you are from a visa exempt country and have a current ETA to board a plane sure you can travel to Canada as a visitor subject same as any other visitor being assessed by CBSA at the POE.

Once your POE letter comes through for your YP permit you would need to either exit the country completely or flagpole at the nearest land border. Just remember the IEC conditions for insurance for the duration and access to 2500 cDN.

Hi Bs65,

thank you for your quick reply. That sounds great, so if I got it right, it doesn't matter if the country where I'm coming from before entering Canada with my YP permit is not the same as my home country?
