I'm guessing you have had sponsor approval already? If so, you could have applied for the OWP when that came in.

What are you from? This is just out of curiosity as you say you're on your 4th IEC and didn't know you could have that many.. 2 of 2 years I'm guessing?

Yeah i am australia who applied pre march 2015, got 2 of 2 years yes.

I didn't even know there was a "Sponsor approval" letter already. I would assume i already have it considering i have already gone thru medical and all that.

So if i have that i can apply for OWP. I read somewhere that you can get "implied status" if that is the case...

Did you manage to link your application online via MyCIC or ECAS? One of those should show that SA (sponsor approval) has been given already and also any further application updates. Your sponsor hasn't received any correspondance from CIC? They would be the one receiving the sponsor approval.

Sponsor approval is one of the early stages, if you have that (also called approval in principal by some people) you could have applied for your OWP. You still can but it will take around 4 months to process and your PR application may be done by then.

Implied status would be your scenario if you applied for the OWP before your current IEC expires. But its implied visitor status, not working status. You cannot keep working once your IEC is up.

I would maybe try calling the CIC call centre.. While they are not exactly the most reliable at times you may be able to get some kind of idea what is going on with your application.

You can apply for the OWP now but the processing time is 3-4 months, so it is unlikely that you will have it before your IEC work permit expires. You are not allowed to work in the time between your IEC permit expiring and receiving the OWP. You really should have applied for it with the PR app or at least several months ago.
