ICT Transfer documentation and timeline

Hi everyone. Thank you for reading this.

I work in the US for a company that has North American presence. My Work Authorization ends in December 2024 in the US and my company wants to transfer to Canada on ICT.

Can you suggest the documentation and timeline for ICT to happen? Can we apply for ICT under "premium processing" ? I'm really worried that my work authorization will end before the ICT happens and I will not be allowed to work and there will be a gap in my current employment.

There is no premium sponsoring in Canada. Your Canadian office needs to start the paperwork and be approved for a LMIA exemption showing you are the only person with the technical knowledge to do the job. Then with LMIA exemption, you apply for a closed work permit.

So right now the company has to file the paperwork. So if get the Canadian office’s lawyer or HR to start the process.
