Coming by asylum doesn’t guarantee you can work either. You may have to wait until your claim is accepted. You would have to live off your own money until then (about 2 years) and then only if your claim is approved.

You aren't understanding. Without significant funds, you won't be able to come to Canada.

But without a visitor visa you will not be able to board a plane to come to Canada in the first place. Without any proof of ties to your home country such as property, employment and finance it would very difficult to even get a visitor visa if at all

actually they used to not give work permits to asylum seekers that didn’t use welfare. Due to the longs delays they stopped doing this around a year and a half ago. Some of the initial wave of 2017 applicants didn’t get work permits and had to live off their savings.
