I am about to freak out I sent in the 2016 checklist instead of the 2018 checklist I am freaking out right now as I just realized that I am crying my eyes out I don’t know what to do anymore . Is this going to affect my application? Will they return it? I sent it in oct 2018. Someone gave me the wrong checklist that they used.

They will likely return it. You need to download the forms from the website yourself, to verify required documents, and then just before you submit check to make sure that the documents have not changed in the meantime.

Don't beat yourself up too much, just be ready to re-submit. Download the forms now. Start filling them out. It's not yet the end of the world.

I cannot believe I let someone else do this for me. Should I get an immigration lawyer to do these for me ?

There's nothing to be worried about. They'd most likely return your file and you'd have to resubmit it with the correct year checklist.

I am sorry to hear that. There might be differences from the 2016 and 2018 checklist which may affect your application and/or documents that needed to be submitted. What I do suggest is check both versions and compare. Did you apply inland or outland?

You also need to check all the forms. Some of them were updated in October. If you're using a checklist from 2016, make sure you're not using forms from 2016.

Can I send in a new application now or wait thill this one is returned ? What are he chances it won’t be returned ?

Are lawyers expensive ?

You're looking at $200-500 or more per hour of preparing forms. How many hours did it take you to prepare the forms?

Read the guide. Read the proper checklist. Most people do this without lawyers. But only you can decide if you need one.

Other people hire consultants who will charge a different rate. But make sure your consultant is certified and licensed properly, or else you will get mistakes like the one that has happened to you.

Follow the advice people are giving you here. Compare the checklists and forms you submitted with the ones on CIC's site. If there are no differences, you may be okay. If there are any different forms, or the checklist itself is different, your application will almost certainly be returned.

However, some visa officers are kind occasionally and ask for an updated form. If you get one of those, even though the chance is very small, someone may be kind to you. But most likely you will need to re-submit.

Will they tell me mistakes besides the checklist ?
Sometimes they do. Sometimes people just get the package back.

Go to the guide website right now and read it: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-guide-sponsor-your-spouse-partner-child.html

Then download the proper forms and checklist and compare.

If you did this based on forms someone else gave you without verifying them, there may be all kinds of issues. If someone else did this for you without being licensed and certified, that's very unfortunate.
