You can bring your child to Canada based on his passport but will need to apply to extend his status in Canada every six months. Unless you have sole custody, make sure you have a letter from your child's other parent authorizing him to travel with you to Canada.

Also, I would recommend you research daycare costs before coming here. Costs are very expensive in larger cities and finding an available daycare can often be a problem as well.

No visa. When you enter, request a Visitor Record for the child to match the length of your stay.

And I believe if I’m not mistaken there was another poster awhile back in the same situation, study permit with infant , the VO wanted proof they had already arranged childcare for the infant, prior to them getting the study permit issued since getting childcare is extremely difficult and very expensive in many areas of the country

Many parents have to apply for a spot when their child is born to try to secure a spot 1 year later. I have witnessed lots of craziness when it comes to securing very expensive childcare. Going back to work early during mat leave, keeping a second child in part-time childcare while on mat leave so they would be able to change to full-time plus have preferential enrolment for the 2nd child, camping out overnight with others to secure enrolment, etc. Would make sure you have secured daycare and can pay for it (daycare is +$2000/month in some cities) before starting school or you won’t be able to attend school.
