me and my ex wife applied to sponsor my mother 3 years ago and CIC is now ready to process my sponsorship. my marriage broke down 2 years ago but im NOT legally separated or divorce. My ex wife is not paying or submitting her taxes for 3 years now.. Im kinda worried that this will affect my mom's application

my question is.

1. will my application be affected/refused because of my ex wife as she also signed the sponsorship?

2. Do i need to inform immigration that iam seperated? what documents do I need to provide?

3. My mom overstayed in Japan for 15 years without legal status. is she considered inadmissible?

4. Iam living with my GF for more than a year now. Can i sponsor her as my common law even if my status is still married?

im currently living in Edmonton alberta and my mom is in the Philippines. i hope you can help me. thanks!

Hi darookie,

I'll comment on the one issue I am sure of:

4. Iam living with my GF for more than a year now. Can i sponsor her as my common law even if my status is still married?

No. Polygamy is illegal in Canada.

I wish you the best of luck.
