Yes - it's quite possible this may be a problem during the citizenship process. Recommend you spend time reading through this thread:

I have 2 friends writing their citizenship tests in March who’ve travelled to the US multiple times on national passport. The problem is when you travel to home country.

There have actually been individuals in the cessation thread who have run into issues without visiting their home country. In some cases all people have done is renewed their passport. But experiences don't appear to be consistent.

im just looking for people who has same as my situation. Your friends are refugee ?

You were given a link to a thread above that's entirely dedicated to this topic. You can read about people's experiences there and post your questions there as well.

An even bigger issue is renewing his national passport! Renewal of the home country passport for a refugee can be considered reavailment.

They may overlook the travel, but passport renewal could be a hindrance. IMO I would expect some significant scrutiny of citizenship application. You would need to satisfy them that there is no presumption to reavail yourself when you applied.

Applications by refugees for the issuance or extension of national passports will normally imply an intention to entrust the protection of their interests to, or to re-establish normal relations with, their country of nationality. This implication may, however, be rebutted by the refugee.
