I have been asked to undergo a medical examination

Hi, any help would be appreciated so much!!

I have been asked to undergo a medical examination when applying for a working holiday visa in Canada from Australia.

This medical examination is going to cost $470, and no-one else I know who has done this application has had to do this so I'd rather not if I didn't have to!!

does anyone know if this is a common thing when applying for a working holiday visa and or any ways around it?

I am booked in to do the examination on the 2nd April, so any tips before then would be appreciated beyond imagination!!

Also, If i do not get my working holiday visa in time for my flight, does anyone know if I'm able to stay in Canada for around 6 months without a visa? Coming from Australia?

If you have been requested to take the medical, you have no option not to.
I think they do them on an assessment basis, where the applicant may have higher risk factors.

Perhaps you have travelled a lot...? some countries are deemed high risk because of their epidemiological profiles...

Are you getting an open work permit or do you have a job offer that's in one of the fields that require you to do a medical exam? It's not required for every occupation but some, like healthcare. (I intended to work in medical labs, had to do the expensive medical exam, then it turned out my certificate doesn't quite match the Canadian so I'm still limited to jobs that I didn't need the medical for. Boo!)
