Foreign workers and employers must go through a three-step process in order to receive a Canadian Work Permit. Firstly, you have to complete IMM 1295 Application for a work permit outside of Canada. Secondly, create your GC KEY account along with IRCC. And thirdly, pay your Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) privilege fee to link the IMM 1295 form with your GC KEY account.
The LMIA is issued by the HRSDC SERVICES who, after considering numerous protective Labour Market factors, authorizes the Canadian employer to hire a foreign worker.
