OMG, that is going to be very challenging for me. I am in my fifties and to go back since 18 :o.

yes, and you'll gonna do it without missing a single month! addresses and activities should match. I told you they instructed me to redo mine. I thought 10 years would be reasonable and that's how I understood it. But they wanted from age 18. So it's either we follow or not.

One of my predicaments was working in another town and lodging in a nearby town, and my family residence 100 kilometers away. I went home 3 times a week. There would be too much inconsistency if you compared the 2 tabulations. in such case, just mark it and put notes in a separate sheet of paper.

you'll be spending much time looking up the ceiling hahaha.

I still think it's 10 years. Here's why:

"...since the age of 18, or for the past 10 years, whichever comes first"

and THEN...

"start with the most recent information"

So you start now, you go back a couple years, then a couple more years... if you're over 28, you hit 10 years FIRST.

If you're 27 or less, you hit 18 years first.

(I'll find out for sure in a few months if Buffalo requests more information lol)

Thanks a bunch nester. You are a great help. Looks like it is going to take me forever to get my applications ready. Hopefully I could send it out this month.

there's no argument on that. anybody would interpret it that way, including me. What i am saying is that it is not what they need. They want it from age 18. Well, you can argue with them and win, and land somewhere else!

It doesn't make sense if it's til 18 no matter what, to even have the 10 years in there. CIC isn't exactly known for making sense though *sigh* Well, either they'll accept it or ask for more info. I think I'll send them a polite feedback email about the wording, and explain its too confusing. Probably made perfect sense to the people in charge and they didn't bother to see if it did with the people who're filling it out.

Confused by your "land somewhere else" though, that seemed rather rude?

you're welcome. do it slowly and surely. You'll be traveling down memory lane...thinking of the beautiful places and good people you were once with.

So what is the right way to answer this question? I am getting more confused now. Please, would appreciate answers from members who have landed. Thank you.

newlife

your confusion lasted very long !! :D more than 48 hrs...LOL

I would call CIC and ask them what to write and than write an explanation on a separate sheet that as per my telephonic conversation with CIC agent I am including last 10 years data..

That would keep you away from trouble... :) ;)

Oh dear LOL, yes, it did indeed lasted very long. You should see the discarded print outs that is laying around everytime I think the way I answered is not right. And then I print out a fresh copy to fill in, yikes, its killing me. Just last night I told my partner that I feel like running away, LOL ;D

is there any incidence of divorce on the forum , done under the stress of paper work and heavy labor work of lifting and throwing unnecessary printouts to trash ? ;D ;D

btwn @newlife .. No offense intended...

It was a joke. I know your interpretation is correct and you will win in an argument. To cut things short, just follow how you interpret it unless instructed otherwise. But anyway you do it will certainly not lead to denial. Just a matter of some 2 months delay if they ever ask for more.

don't worry kuku, in fact I feel a little relaxed now, you are so funny.

and in fact I'll will call CIC and find out. Thanks for your advise kuku

The wording of that question makes sense in French. It was badly translated. It used to say "back to age 18 or the last 10 years, whichever period is longer". That is in fact what they want.
